Einer der bekanntesten schwedischen Autoren, Olov Svedelid, verstarb nach langer Krankheit am 22.September2008 Er schrieb fast 190 Bücher. In seinem letzten Werk, das im Frühjahr 2008 erschien, schreibt Svedelid von seinem Umgang mit der Diagnose Krebs und seinen Erfahrungen mit dem schwedischen Gesundheitssystem. Bekannt war Svedelid durch seine mehr als 20 Krimis mit der Hauptfigur des Kommissar Roland Hassel, von denen etliche ins Deutsche übersetzt sind. Viele wurden verfilmt. Neben Detektivromanen und Krimis schrieb Svedelid auch historische Romane, Satiren, Biographien und Novellen.
